De Minaur dances past Rublev into round 2 at Rotterdam

Australian Alex De Minaur won against Russian Andrey Rublev, the second seed, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Rotterdam Open at the Rotterdam Ahoy on Wednesday evening.

The Australian is reeled off three top 5 wins since last October, notching wins over Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal and now Rublev – prior to that he was 0-18 against the top 5.

De Minaur improves to 3-1 against Rublev, and 3-0 against the Russian on hard courts.

The Aussie never faced a break point on Wednesday, winning 28 of 32 first-serve points. He broke Rublev once per set, converting two of six break point opportunities overall.

De Minaur, ranked No 25, will play American Maxime Cressy next.
