Alex de Minaur finally conquered the Rotterdam indoor hardcourts on Sunday, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-2 to secure his 11th career ATP singles title.

The 26-year-old Australian, currently ranked world No. 8, entered the ABN AMRO Open final having finished as the runner-up in the previous two editions against Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. On this occasion, the top-seeded De Minaur required just 77 minutes to dismantle the Canadian’s eight-match winning streak (6-3, 6-2) and improve his own 2026 season record to a great 11-2 track record.

“I’m glad I was finally able to get the title”, De Minaur said during the trophy ceremony. “It’s been one of my favorite spots on the calendar. I love coming back here in Rotterdam. I play some of my best tennis and I finally get the reward. Thank you very much to this amazing crowd which makes it feel like home.”

Medical time out for Auger-Aliassime

The final was marked by a significant physical drop from the 25-year-old Auger-Aliassime. The world No. 6 arrived in the Netherlands fresh from a title in Montpellier and had played nine matches in the last 11 days. Despite a quick night semi-final victory the evening prior, the Canadian’s fatigue became apparent as the match progressed.

At 3-2 in the second set, Auger-Aliassime was forced to take an off-court medical timeout to have his left leg manipulated by a physiotherapist.

De Minaur played with relentless intensity, securing one break in set 1 and two in set 2 set to keep the pressure on his opponent. Auger-Aliassime didn’t earn any break point. The victory ends Auger-Aliassime’s unbeaten run on indoor hardcourts this season and marks De Minaur’s first ATP 500 trophy of the year.

“Obviously we’ve played a lot of matches throughout the years”, Auger-Aliassime said, losing for the fourth time in five matches against De Minaur. “I tried my best today, but you were just a little bit too good. Congrats to you and your team… third time in the final here. Congrats on the win.”
