Dubai Open: Kotov reaches second round, upsets wild card Popyrin
Pavel Kotov edged out Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (3) on Monday. He’ll play the winner of the match between Russian lucky loser Alexander Shevchenko and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 5 seed, in the next round
Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov moved into the second round of the Dubai Open by edging out Australian wild card Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (3) at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Monday.
Kotov, ranked No 138, will play the winner of the match between Russian lucky loser Alexander Shevchenko and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 5 seed, next.
