Monte-Carlo Masters: Berrettini breaks unwanted streak, into second round

Italian Matteo Berrettini moved into the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters by winning against American Maxime Cressy 6-4, 6-2 at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Monday.

The win means he has broken a five-match losing run at Masters 1000 level, the longest of his career.

His last Masters 1000 victory on clay was against John Millman in the second round of Rome in 2021.

Berrettini, ranked No 22, will play Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo next.
