Rome Masters: Musetti bests compatriot Arnaldi to move into third round

No 18 seed Lorenzo Musetti defeated wildcard Matteo Arnaldi 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the third round of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico.

The 21-year-old Italian knocked out his compatriot with a straightforward win in the Italian sun to keep his home Masters 1000 hopes alive.

Musetti, ranked No 19, will play the winner of the match between German qualifier Daniel Altmaier and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 12 seed, next.

Arnaldi, ranked No 99, won against Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Italian Open.
