Ukrainian wildcard Elina Svitolina beat Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2 to move into the semi-finals of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Tuesday afternoon.
Svitolina, ranked No 76, will play Marketa Vondrousova next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Ukrainian won against American wildcard Venus Williams (6-4, 6-3), Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 28 seed (6-1, 1-6, 6-1), American qualifier Sofia Kenin (7-6 (3), 6-2) and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 19 seed (2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (9)).
Swiatek, ranked No 1, won against Chinese Lin Zhu (6-1, 6-3), Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 6-0), Croat Petra Martic, the No 30 seed (6-2, 7-5) and Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 14 seed (6-7 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-3) in the previous rounds of The Championships.
