Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 4 seed, advanced to the final of the Grand Est Open by winning against French wildcard Fiona Ferro 6-2, 7-5 at Tennis Club de Contrexéville in Contréxeville on Saturday afternoon.
Rus, ranked No 86, will play the winner Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 8 seed, next.
The Dutchwoman beat American qualifier Elvina Kalieva (6-1, 6-3), Russian Erika Andreeva (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) and German Eva Lys (6-4, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Contréxeville tournament, Ferro, ranked No 301, defeated Slovak Rebecca Sramkova (7-5, 0-6, 6-2), No 6 seed Diane Parry (3-6, 6-2, 7-5) and Spaniard Cristina Bucsa, the second seed (6-2, 6-2).
