US Open: Fritz thrashes Mensik to end the young Czech’s impressive run and move into last 16

American Taylor Fritz, the No 9 seed, defeated qualifier Jakub Mensik 6-1, 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the last 16 of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Fritz, ranked No 9, will play Swiss qualifier Dominic Stricker next.
Earlier in the tournament, the American won against wildcard Steve Johnson (6-2, 6-1, 6-2) and Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (6-1, 6-2, 6-2).
Mensik, ranked No 206, won against Frenchman Gregoire Barrere (6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 6-2) and French qualifier Titouan Droguet (3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (1), 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Flushing Meadows tournament.
