US Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev was a late withdrawal from UTS Frankfurt – and Patrick Mouratoglou spoke about the absence of the Russian from this weekend’s line-up.
“He’s a very nice guy so he didn’t pretend he was injured,” he said. “He just said, ‘I’m completely empty.'”
Acknowledging that this can often be the case both physically and mentally after an arduous Grand Slam campaign, the coach added that he was pleased that Grigor “G-Unit” Dimistrov had been able to take Medvedev’s place so quickly.
“On the other side we are happy that Grigor was able to jump in so fast,” said the Frenchman. “We all think that he’s very exciting to watch.”
