Pole Magda Linette, the top seed, defeated Kazakh Yulia Putintseva 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open on Friday.
Linette, ranked No 27, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Greet Minnen, the No 7 seed, and Chinese Xiyu Wang next.
Ahead of her victory, the Pole won against Jodie Burrage (6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-2), Australian Daria Saville (6-0, 7-6) and Spaniard Rebeka Masarova, the No 5 seed (7-5, 7-6 (6)).
Putintseva, ranked No 81, beat Chinese wildcard Xiaodi You (6-4, 6-0), Dane Clara Tauson (3-6, 7-6 (5), 0-0 ret.) and German Tatjana Maria, the No 3 seed (6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-0) earlier in the tournament.
