Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the top seed, reached the last 4 of the Ningbo Open by beating Russian wildcard Vera Zvonareva 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 on Thursday.
Jabeur, ranked No 7, will play the winner of the match between Katerina Siniakova and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska next.
Ahead of her victory, the Tunisian won against Frenchwoman Diane Parry (7-6 (3), 7-5) and German Tamara Korpatsch (6-3, 6-2).
Vera Zvonareva edged out No 7 seed Katie Boulter (6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3)) and benefited from the abandonment of Dane Clara Tauson (6-4, 1-0) in the previous rounds.
