Hong Kong Open: Junior Grand Slam champ Korneeva scores first WTA level win
The 16-year-old Russian teen will play 18-year-old Czech Linda Fruhvirtova in the next round

Qualifier Alina Korneeva, winner of the Australian Open and Roland-Garros junior singles titles in 2023, defeated Valeria Savinykh 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to move into the second round of the Hong Kong Open on Wednesday.
This is the first WTA level main draw win for the 16-year-old from Russia, who came through the qualifying draw.
Korneeva, ranked No 179 among the pros and currently ranked No 2 among the juniors, will play fellow teen Linda Fruhvirtova, aged 18, next.
