Tampico Open: Kalinskaya advances to last four

Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 4 seed, won against American Katie Volynets, the No 7 seed, 6-3, 6-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Tampico Open at the Centro Libanés Mexicano de Tampico on Friday evening.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 115, will face the winner of the match between Mexican wildcard Fernanda Contreras Gomez and American Elizabeth Mandlik next.
The Russian defeated American qualifier Jessie Aney (6-1, 6-1) and American Varvara Lepchenko (6-1, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Tampico tournament, Volynets, ranked No 108, won against Mexican wildcard Ana Sofia Sanchez (6-1, 6-2) and Hailey Baptiste (6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-1).
