Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 8 seed, beat Ipek Oz 6-1, 6-3 to reach the last eight of the Argentina Open at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday evening.
Carle, ranked No 175, will face Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the top seed, next.
The Argentinian won against Brazilian Gabriela Ce (3-6, 6-0, 6-3) in the previous round of the Argentinian tournament.
In the previous round of the Argentinian tournament, Oz, ranked No 247, won against Greek Valentini Grammatikopoulou (7-6 (1), 6-0).
