Dubai Open: Hurkacz makes last eight

Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 3 seed, won against Australian Christopher O’Connell 7-6 (5), 6-4 to reach the last eight of the Dubai Open at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday evening.
Hurkacz, ranked No 8, will face Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 5 seed, next, in what will be his fourth quarter-final in Dubai.
In the previous round of the Dubai tournament, the Pole edged out German Jan-Lennard Struff (7-6 (5), 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6)).
O’Connell, ranked No 68, beat German qualifier Maximilian Marterer (6-2, 6-4) during the first round of the Dubai tournament.
