Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed, beat Russian Kamilla Rakhimova 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Wednesday night.
Parry, ranked No 62, will play Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the top seed, next.
In the previous round of the Austin tournament, the 21-year-old Frenchman won against qualifier Jessika Ponchet (6-3, 7-6 (4)).
Rakhimova, ranked No 94, edged out Belgian Yanina Wickmayer (6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5)) in the first round of the Austin tournament.
