Estoril Open: Martinez eliminates 2015 champion Gasquet
Pedro Martinez won against Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-4 on Friday evening and will play the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, and Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the next round
Spaniard Pedro Martinez advanced to the last four of the Estoril Open by defeating French lucky loser Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-4 at Clube de Ténis do Estoril on Friday evening.
Martinez, ranked No 77, will face the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, and Hungarian Marton Fucsovics next.
The Spaniard won against German Daniel Altmaier (6-4, 6-2) and Roberto Bautista Agut (7-5, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous round of the Estoril tournament, Gasquet, ranked No 122, beat Austrian Dominic Thiem (6-4, 7-6 (6)).
