Spaniard Paula Badosa advanced to the second round of the Stuttgart Open by defeating Russian qualifier Diana Shnaider 6-3, 6-4 at the Porsche-Arena.
Badosa, ranked No 93, will play second seed Aryna Sabalenka next.
