Top seed Emma Navarro reached the last eight of the Trophée Clarins by winning against Mccartney Kessler 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday.
Navarro, ranked No 22, will play Frenchwoman Fiona Ferro next.
The American defeated qualifier Lauren Davis (6-0, 6-0) in the previous round.
During the round of 32, Kessler, ranked No 123, benefited from the retirement of Romanian wildcard Simona Halep (5-7, 3-2).
