Rotterdam Open: Altmaier advances to quarter-finals

German lucky loser Daniel Altmaier edged out Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 7 seed, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Rotterdam Open at the Rotterdam Ahoy on Thursday afternoon.

Altmaier, ranked No 93, will face Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 3 seed, next.

The German won against American Aleksandar Kovacevic (1-6, 6-4, 6-3) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Rotterdam tournament, Fils, ranked No 19, beat qualifier Constant Lestienne (6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-1).
