Camilo Ugo Carabelli defeated Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Chile Open at the Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago de Chile on Thursday evening.
Ugo Carabelli, ranked No 69, will next face the winner of a match between Argentinian Federico Coria and Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the second seed.
In the previous round of the Santiago tournament, the Argentine edged out Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 7 seed (5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (9)).
Monteiro, ranked No 108, previously knocked off Argentine qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (2)).
