Australian Jordan Thompson advanced to the third round of the Miami Masters by defeating Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the No 28 seed, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1) at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
Thompson, ranked No 37, will play German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, next.
The Australian edged out American Marcos Giron (3-6, 6-4, 7-5) ahead of his victory.
