Miami Open: Swiatek books spot in last 16

Pole Iga Swiatek, the second seed, won against Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 27 seed, 7-6 (2), 6-1 to reach the last 16 of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
It is her second straight-sets victory over Mertens, and her 18th straight-sets win of the season.
She has now reached the round of 16 in 25 consecutive WTA 1000 events, the first player to reach the milestone.
Swiatek, ranked No 2, will face Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 22 seed, next.
The Pole beat Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia (6-2, 7-5) in the previous round of the Miami tournament.
In the previous round of the Miami tournament, Mertens, ranked No 28, defeated American Peyton Stearns (6-4, 6-1).
