No 10 seed Paula Badosa is out of the Miami Open, withdrawing due to injury ahead of her round-of-16 match against Filipino wildcard Alexandra Eala on Monday.

In her previous match, Badosa appeared to reaggravate the back injury that saw her miss the second half of the 2023 season.

Eala, ranked No 140, will face the winner of the match between Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 22 seed, and Pole Iga Swiatek, the second seed, next. It will be her first-ever WTA 1000 quarter-final.
