Australian Christopher O’Connell reached the quarter-finals of the Bucharest Open by edging out Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 4 seed, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (5) at the Năstase & Marica Sports Club. on Thursday.
O’Connell, ranked No 87, will play the winner of the match between Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and Argentinian Mariano Navone, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Australian beat Serb Dusan Lajovic (6-4, 6-3).
