American Katie Volynets, the second seed, reached the last 16 of the Oeiras Ladies Open by beating Italian Giorgia Pedone 6-2, 6-1 on Tuesday.
Volynets, ranked No 80, will face the winner of the match between German Mona Barthel and Slovenian Tamara Zidansek next.
