Madrid Open: Frech into third round
Magdalena Frech edged out Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 5-7, 7-6 (2), 6-4 on Thursday. She’ll face the winner of the match between Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 7 seed, and Marie Bouzkova in the next round

Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 27 seed, advanced to the third round of the Madrid Open by edging out Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 5-7, 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the Caja Mágica on Thursday.
Frech, ranked No 27, will face the winner of the match between Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 7 seed, and Marie Bouzkova next.
In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, Bouzas Maneiro, ranked No 69, won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif (6-3, 6-1).
