Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva won against Spanish wildcard Aliona Bolsova 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the Catalonia Open on Thursday.
Selekhmeteva, ranked No 161, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales and Hungarian Dalma Galfi next.
The 22-year-old Russian beat American Louisa Chirico (6-1, 6-2) and New Zealander Lulu Sun, the second seed (6-0, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Bolsova, ranked No 385, defeated Australian Maya Joint, the No 6 seed (7-6 (7), 6-3) and Italian Lucrezia Stefanini (6-4, 6-3).
