Rome Masters: Hurkacz makes third round

Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 30 seed, reached the third round of the Rome Masters by defeating Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero 6-1, 7-5 at the Foro Italico in Roma on Saturday.

Hurkacz, ranked No 31, will play the winner of the match between No 4 seed Taylor Fritz and Marcos Giron next.

In the previous round of the Italian Open, Martinez Portero, ranked No 49, won against Italian Mattia Bellucci (6-4, 6-2).
