Sabalenka withdraws from Montreal due to fatigue
Aryna Sabalenka was a quarter-finalist at the WTA 1000 in Toronto in 2024 and will lose 215 WTA points.

Aryna Sabalenka needs to rest in order to best prepare for the second half of the season. The world No 1 has withdrawn from the first WTA 1000 tournament of the North American swing, which will take place in Montreal from July 26 to August 7, 2025.
“I’m looking forward to kicking off the North American hard-court swing, but to give myself the best chance for success this season, I’ve decided it’s in my best interest to skip Montreal,” a statement read.
The Belarusian reached the quarter-finals in Toronto in 2024 and will therefore lose 215 WTA points. She was defeated by none other than Amanda Anisimova — the same player who beat her just a few days ago in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
Sabalenka wants to arrive in top form to defend her titles in Cincinnati and at the US Open. The world No 1, runner-up at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros in 2025, is still chasing her first Grand Slam title of the season.
