ATP Finals stay in Turin through 2026, future beyond uncertain

The ATP Finals’ location is confirmed through 2026, but internal political challenges and possible venue changes put the tournament’s longer-term home in question between Turin and Milan.

The ATP Finals will remain in Turin through 2026, the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) said on Friday. However, uncertainty clouds the event’s future beyond that date due to political and organisational challenges within Italy.

ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi had previously announced a long-term agreement to keep the tournament in Italy through 2030, though no specific city was named.

The federation expressed concerns about a proposed government decree that could reduce its control over event hosting rights. FITP President Angelo Binaghi stated, “We are committed to supporting the ATP Finals in Turin, but it is essential that the existing governance and organisational structures remain intact to ensure the event’s stability and growth.”

Turin or… Milan ?

“Our goal is to build a lasting legacy in Turin,” Gaudenzi had said in a 2023 statement. “The city has embraced the tournament with passion, and we see a bright future for the ATP Finals here.”

Meanwhile, reports suggest ongoing discussions about the possibility of moving the event to Milan, where preparations are underway for a new Olympic arena that could serve as a future venue.

Since moving to Turin in 2021, the ATP Finals have helped establish the city as a growing hub for international tennis. The tournament’s presence has coincided with a surge in Italian tennis popularity, highlighted by Jannik Sinner’s breakthrough performances and a rapidly expanding fan base.
