Andreeva reaches US Open third round for the first time
The 18-year-old Russian will face American Taylor Townsend in the next round

Russian teen and fifth seed Mirra Andreeva reached the third round of the US Open for the first time with a straight sets win over countrywoman Anastasia Potapova on Wednesday.
Andreeva won 6-1, 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York to achieve her best performance to date at the American Grand Slam.
The Russian, ranked No 5 in the world, will play American Taylor Townsend next.
Andreeva defeated American Alycia Parks (6-0, 6-1) in her first round match in New York.
In the previous round, Potapova, ranked No 45, beat China’s Lin Zhu (6-4, 4-6, 6-2).
