US Open: Players spar after Townsend knocks out 25th seed Ostapenko
Townsend will face No 5 seed Mirra Andreeva for a spot in the fourth round

American Taylor Townsend reached the third round of the US Open by defeating Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 25 seed, 7-5, 6-1 in New York on Wednesday night.
But the big drama happened after the match as the two players got into a heated exchange during the post-match handshake.
Townsend said the former French Open champion accused her of lacking class and education while Ostapenko claimed that the American did not follow tennis etiquette on two occasions in the match.
The first, Ostapenko said, came during the warm-up when Townsend started to warm up straight at the net instead of the baseline, which is the usual norm in the sport, and the second when her opponent did not sorry after a net cord.
Townsend, ranked No 143, will face No 5 seed Mirra Andreeva next for a spot in the last 16.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against Croat Antonia Ruzic (6-4, 6-4).
Ostapenko, ranked No 27, won against Chinese qualifier Xiyu Wang (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round.
