Wildcard Thanasi Kokkinakis moved into the second round of the Adelaide International 2 by edging out wildcard Alexei Popyrin 6-0, 6-7 (5), 7-5 at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre on Monday.

Kokkinakis, ranked No 110, will face top seed Andrey Rublev next.
