Czech Tomas Machac, the No 8 seed, reached the final of the Adelaide International by beating American Tommy Paul, the second seed, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Friday night.

Machac, ranked No 35, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the top seed, and Frenchman Ugo Humbert next.

The Czech won against Spaniard Jaume Munar (6-4, 6-4), French qualifier Quentin Halys (6-4, 6-2) and Australian wildcard James Duckworth (6-3, 6-3) ahead of his victory.

In the previous rounds, Paul, ranked No 21, defeated Australian qualifier Aleksandar Vukic (6-3, 6-2) and Reilly Opelka (6-4, 6-4).
