Alcaraz seals ATP Finals berth after Wimbledon win

The Spaniard has qualified for the season-ending event for the second year in a row

Newly crowned Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz has become the first player to qualify for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin November.

Alcaraz, who defeated Novak Djokovic in a thrilling five-set final on Sunday, has now qualified for the eight-man event for the second year in a row. The Spaniard was forced to pull out of the event last year though and will be aiming to make his debut in tournament this year.

“I am really happy to be able to play in Turin at the end of the year,” Alcaraz said as quoted by the ATP Tour website. “It’s a goal for me since the beginning of the season.”

Besides winning at Wimbledon, Alcaraz has also won two ATP Masters Series, two ATP 500 titles and one ATP 250 event to lead the tour in 2023 with 47 wins.

The 2023 ATP Finals will be played from November 12 to 19 at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy.
