Almaty Open: Fifth seed Machac continues good run with first round win
The Czech will play Kazakh wildcard Beibit Zhukayev in the second round

Fifth seed Tomas Machac reached the second round of the Almaty Open by winning against Kazakh wildcard Timofey Skatov 6-3, 6-4 at Almaty Arena on Wednesday.
This was the fast-rising Machac’s 11th win in his last 14 matches on the tour, including semi-finals runs in Tokyo and Shanghai.
Machac, ranked a career-high No 25 in the world and seeded in the top 5 of an ATP Tour singles event for the first time in his career, will play Kazakh wildcard Beibit Zhukayev next.
