Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut advanced to the quarter-finals of the Astana Open by defeating Russian lucky loser Pavel Kotov 6-1, 7-6 (5) at the Daulet National Tennis Center in Nur-Sultan on Wednesday.
Bautista Agut, ranked No 21, maintained the form he showed in beating Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the previous round.
He will face the winner of the match between second seed Daniil Medvedev and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori.
Kotov, ranked No 103, won against Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round.
