Astana Open: Tsitsipas holds off qualifier Nardi to reach last eight

Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 3 seed, moved into the last eight of the Astana Open by winning against Italian qualifier Luca Nardi 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3) at the Daulet National Tennis Center in Nur-Sultan on Wednesday afternoon.

Tsitsipas, ranked No 6, will face the winner of the match between Kazakh Alexander Bublik and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 7 seed, next.

The Greek beat Kazakh wildcard Mikhail Kukushkin (6-3, 6-4) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Nur-Sultan, Nardi, ranked No 152, won against Russian qualifier Alexander Shevchenko (7-6 (4), 6-2).
