Atlanta Open: Thompson books spot in last four
Jordan Thompson won against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3 on Friday evening and will play the winner of the match between Chinese qualifier Juncheng Shang and Australian Max Purcell, the No 8 seed, in the next round

Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 4 seed, defeated Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 5 seed, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3 to move into the last four of the Atlanta Open at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Friday evening.
Thompson, ranked No 41, will play the winner of the match between Chinese qualifier Juncheng Shang and Australian Max Purcell, the No 8 seed, next.
The Australian won against French lucky loser Harold Mayot (6-2, 7-5) in the previous round of the Atlanta Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 43, won against Frenchman Arthur Cazaux (6-2, 7-6 (4)) and American Reilly Opelka (7-5, 7-5).
