ATP rankings: Djokovic begins 397th week as world No 1 as Race for Turin heats up

The Serb has a lead of over 2,400 points over Alcaraz in the latest world rankings but a much slimmer 500-point lead in the Race to Turin standings

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic continues to lead the latest ATP rankings released on October 30, 2023, with 11,045 points, a lead of over 2,400 points behind closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, of Spain. However, in the race to Turin, the Serb holds a smaller 500-point lead over the Spaniard.

Djokovic has now begun his 397th week as world No 1 and has held the top spot uninterrupted since the end of August this year.

Both players headline the Paris Masters draw this week where a lot of the focus will also be on the remaining three berths for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin.

Djokovic and Alcaraz are followed by Vienna runner-up Daniil Medvedev at No 3, Vienna champion Jannik Sinner at No 4 and Russia’s Andrey Rublev at No 5. Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas moves up one spot to No 6 after reaching the semis in Vienna, trading places with Denmark’s Holger Rune. Casper Ruud remains at No 8 while Alexander Zverev moves up a notch to No 9, swapping places with American Taylor Fritz.

Hurkacz puts himself in the mix for ATP Finals berth after reaching Basel final

With the top 5 having secured their spots in Turin, the battle for the remaining three berths is centred around those in the sixth to 10th position in the rankings along with Hubert Hurkacz. The Pole is ranked No 11 but moves up to No 9 in the Race to Turin after reaching the Basel final.

Basel winner Felix Auger-Aliassime, who had reached only one semi-final in 2023 prior to this week, holds on to the 19th position in the world rankings after successfully defending his title.

There were new career-highs for Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, up two spots to No 23, 19-year-old Frenchman Arthur Fils, up two positions to No 36, 22-year-old Matteo Arnaldi, up five to No 41, and 24-year-old Fabian Marozsan, up one spot to No 61.

The biggest mover in this week’s top 100 is 22-year-old Alexander Shevchenko, who moves up 20 spots to a new career high of No 63 after coming through the qualifying event and reaching the quarters in Basel.
