ATP rankings: Hurkacz on the rise, Medvedev stretches lead at the top

Not too many changes at the top of the rankings, but some interesting moves a little further down

Daniil Medvedev marked his return to the top of the ATP rankings with a run to the Halle final – and although he couldn’t lift the trophy, he extended his lead over the absent world No 2 Alexander Zverev to 1130 points.

There are no movers in the Top 9, with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal both missing this week and staying at third and fourth spot respectively.

Hubie goes higher, #10

Halle champion Hubert Hurkacz is back in the Top 10, rising two places to world No 10 – but still one slot short of his previous career high.

He enjoyed a sensational triumph in Halle, beating Medvedev 6-1, 6-4 in a swift demolition.

Botic at his best, #26

It’s a new career high for Botic van de Zandschulp, who lost in the semi-finals of Queen’s. He rises to world No 26, up three places from his previous career high of 29.

The Dutchman fell in the final four to eventual champion Matteo Berrettini 6-4, 6-3.

Filip flying, #31

Queen’s finalist Filip Krajinovic is knocking on the door of the Top 30 again, up 17 places to world No 31 with his first-ever tour-level wins on a grass-court.

He couldn’t quite pull off the incredible trick of winning the title, but finishing as runner-up in London behind Berrettini is no disgrace at all.

Kyrgios makes a leap, #45

And Nick Kyrgios is back in the Top 50, rising a huge 20 places to world No 45 after a great start to his grass-court season, reaching the Halle semi-final this week and the Stuttgart semi-final last week.

  1. He will probably end the year as the number one.
If this vaccine ban nonsense is over will be interesting to see how long he can hold it, because of the Novak factor.
