Belgian qualifier Zizou Bergs won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 to move into the last four of the Auckland Open at the ASB Tennis Arena on Thursday.
Bergs, ranked No 66, will face the winner of the match between Jakub Mensik and Portuguese Nuno Borges, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Belgian beat New Zealander wildcard Isaac Becroft (6-3, 7-5) and Italian qualifier Luca Nardi (6-1, 6-4).
Carballes Baena, ranked No 59, edged out German lucky loser Daniel Altmaier (6-3, 3-6, 7-5) and won against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 4 seed (6-2, 7-5) earlier in the tournament.
