Barcelona Open: Fils too good for Matinez Portero, into quarter-finals
Arthur Fils defeated Pedro Martinez Portero 6-3, 6-2 and will play the winner of the match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Sebastian Korda in the next round

Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 7 seed, reached the last eight of the Barcelona Open by winning against Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero 6-3, 6-2 at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona.
Fils, ranked No 14, will play the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 3 seed, and American Sebastian Korda next.
The 20-year-old Frenchman beat Spanish wildcard Pablo Carreno Busta (7-6 (6), 6-3) in the previous round of the Barcelona tournament.
During the first round of the Barcelona tournament, Martinez Portero, ranked No 49, edged out American Brandon Nakashima (7-5, 5-7, 6-4).
