Barcelona Open: De Minaur advances to quarter-finals after Dimitrov withdrawal
Alex De Minaur benefited from the forfeit of Grigor Dimitrov on Thursday and will play the winner of the match between Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 14 seed, and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, in the next round
Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 8 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Barcelona Open after Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 11 seed, withdrew before the match on Thursday at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona.
De Minaur, ranked No 19, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 14 seed, and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, next.
The Australian won against Russian Alexander Shevchenko (6-0, 6-1) in the previous round of the Barcelona tournament.
In the previous round of the Barcelona tournament, Dimitrov, ranked No 31, beat Ecuadorian Emilio Gomez (6-3, 6-1).
