American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, beat Spaniard Rafael Jodar 7-6 (2), 6-4 to win the Mubadala DC Open tournament on Monday evening. It’s his first title in 2026.
Fritz, ranked No 10, defeated Brandon Nakashima (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Alex Michelsen (6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (6)), Pole Kamil Majchrzak (6-3, 6-4) and Belgian Zizou Bergs (6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Jodar, ranked No 24, defeated Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-4), Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 4 seed (1-6, 6-1, 6-4), Japanese Kei Nishikori (6-3, 6-2) and Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 8 seed (7-6 (5), 6-3).
