Chengdu Open: Zverev books spot in semi-finals

Alexander Zverev defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 on Sunday night and will play the winner of the match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 3 seed, and Australian Christopher O’Connell in the next round

German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Chengdu Open by winning against Serb Miomir Kecmanovic, the No 7 seed, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Sunday night.

Zverev, ranked No 10, will face the winner of the match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 3 seed, and Australian Christopher O’Connell next.

In the previous round of the Chengdu tournament, the German beat Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1).

Kecmanovic, ranked No 47, defeated Zimbabwean qualifier Benjamin Lock (6-2, 6-3) and Frenchman Corentin Moutet (6-2, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Chengdu tournament.
