Chile Open: Moutet reaches quarter-finals

Corentin Moutet won against Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2 on Wednesday evening and will play the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the top seed, and Argentinian Federico Coria in the next round

French qualifier Corentin Moutet advanced to the quarter-finals of the Chile Open by beating Argentinian Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2 at Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago de Chile on Wednesday evening.

Moutet, ranked No 140, will play the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the top seed, and Argentinian Federico Coria next.

In the previous round of the Santiago tournament, the Frenchman won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No 7 seed (6-3, 5-7, 6-2).

Tirante, ranked No 100, won against Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca (7-5, 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the Santiago tournament.
