Chile Open: Moutet upsets Baena for first ATP level win of the year

Corentin Moutet won against Roberto Carballes Baena 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 on Tuesday. He’ll face the winner of the match between Argentinian Thiago Agustin Tirante and Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca in the next round

French qualifier Corentin Moutet defeated Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No 7 seed, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Chile Open at Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago de Chile on Tuesday.

The Frenchman began his season in February and lost in the first rounds of the Cordoba main draw and Buenos Aires qualifying before picking up two qualifying wins in Rio de Janeiro where he also lost in the first round of the main draw.

Moutet, ranked No 140 in the world, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Thiago Agustin Tirante and Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca next.
