China Open: Medvedev recovers to reach semi-finals

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the second seed, reached the semi-finals of the China Open by beating Frenchman Ugo Humbert 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at the Olympic Green Tennis Center in Beijing on Monday night.
Medvedev, ranked No 3, will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the No 8 seed, and Chilean Nicolas Jarry next. It’s the Russian’s 10th semi-final of 2023.
In the previous rounds of the Beijing tournament, the Russian won against American Tommy Paul (6-2, 6-1) and Australian Alex De Minaur (7-6 (3), 6-3).
Humbert, ranked No 36, won against Italian Lorenzo Sonego (7-5, 3-6, 6-0) and edged out Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed (5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (3)) earlier in the tournament.
